IFUNANYA OKEKE Esq

Program Officer

Ifunanya Okeke Esq is a development Lawyer, human rights activist, and good governance advocate, currently working as a Programs Officer at Connected Development(CODE). She has actively led campaigns driving positive change and improving the lives of marginalised communities in the development space for over 5 years. She serves as a youth mentor, as her work revolves around improving the lives of youths and women in society. Her skill set includes human rights, project management, good governance, rule of law and criminal justice reforms. 

She serves as the Project Manager on the Open Parly-Nigeria project funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), she also serves as the Abuja Lead on Reviving Educational Values and Maximising Potentials (REVAMP Africa). Ifunanya is also a member Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) and the Nigerian Bar Association. She is also a leader at the Harnessing Young People Early (HYPE Foundation). She was the  Lead Project Officer on Governance and Human rights at the Centre for Legal Research and Development (CLERD). She is a serial volunteer with international and local organisations. She is trained with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC); and co-authored with others a publication titled “The Status of Human Rights in West Africa”. 

She is a graduate of law from Babcock University Ogun State, with a diploma in Criminology and security studies, and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK – Nigeria and Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administration. She is passionate about giving back to society irrespective of their background. Ifunanya enjoys cooking, ideating on ideas, outreaches/rendering services to the poor, sports and discussion on politics, human rights and governance.
