Inter-Faith Dialogue for Climate and Religion

The Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC), a dedicated organization in climate and energy, is collaborating with Connected Development (CODE) to conduct a study on the influence of faith on perceptions and discussions related to climate change in Nigeria. The primary objective of the project is to initiate an interfaith dialogue within Nigeria, exploring the intersection of faith and climate change. The project acknowledges the pivotal significance of faith in the daily lives of Nigerians and endeavors to narrow the divide between abstract climate concepts and tangible everyday realities. Through an insightful exploration of the intersection of faith and climate issues, the project aims to elevate climate education and enhance awareness among the populace.

Project goals and objectives:

Study on Faith and Climate Change: Conduct a comprehensive study examining how different faiths in Nigeria approach environmental stewardship and climate change. Understand the role of faith leaders in shaping the perceptions of their congregations regarding climate-related issues. Identify opportunities for leveraging faith-based platforms to promote climate education and sustainable practices.

Interfaith Dialogue /Symposium/Forum: Organize a forum or symposium bringing together faith leaders and key stakeholders to discuss the findings of the study. Facilitate an open dialogue on the role of faith in climate change and environmental stewardship. Develop a joint communiqué or manifesto representing the collective stance of faith leaders on climate change in Nigeria.
